We would like to officially invite you to attend the World Karate/ Kickboxing Championships being held in Dublin, Ireland. The event is sanctioned by the World Karate/Kickboxing Commission and will be held October 4-9, 2014.

Judges Wanted!!

Each country must provide some referees and officials. Each referee will be paid 50 euros a day for their service, and will be provided lunch. The official uniform is black pants and an official shirt which is provided by us. Contact Richard Plowden if you are interested!

Weigh-in and registration:

All competitors must weigh-in and register on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Registration starts at 10:00 and finishes at 20:00. The registration fee is 70 euros per event. There is no weight allowance at weigh-ins. Competitors must make their weight class.

We ask all competitors to bring a doctor’s note stating they are healthy and physically fit to compete at the Championships. These notes will be accepted at registration.

Note –Passport booklets are NOT required for competitors.

Spectator Fees:

The daily fee for spectators is 15 euros. A full week pass for the 5 days is 50 euros.

Divisions:

Please see attachment for all official divisions being held at the World Championships. Each country can have a maximum of 4 competitors per division. Individual competitors must compete in the same weight class through-out the Championships. {therefore if a fighter weigh-ins at -50kg and fights -50kg in point fighting, they cannot fight -55kg in continuous. They must also fight in the same age category. The only exception is veteran Men and Women who can fight in their age category as well as the younger categories.} The age is as of January 1st 2014.

Official Draw:

This is where we chart the divisions. We ask that each country provide an official to help oversee the draws and ensure fairness. Draws will be posted Saturday, October 4 at 21:00.

Opening Ceremonies:

All athletes are invited to attend the opening ceremonies. Country Presidents will be introduced at the main stage. Ceremonies start with the March In at 9:00 on Sunday, October 5.

Coaches meeting:

This is an opportunity for any coaches to ask questions regarding rules and schedule and for us to review the guidelines for addressing disputes.

Free Seminar:

All athletes are invited to attend a free seminar on Sunday, October 5 from 18:00 -19:30. Last year we had Jadi Tention teach the seminar. We will announce this year’s instructor once the details are finalized.

All weights Championships:

The Gold medal winners for all the 18yrs+ divisions are eligible to compete in the All Weights Championship. Last year, the two winners were Jadi Tention and Morgan Plowden. The winners receive 1000 euros each.

Kata and Weapons Showdown:

Similar to how the All Weights Championship rewards our top fighters, the Kata Showdown will give the 18yrs+ Kata and Weapons Gold medal winners the opportunity to compete again. Men and women will be divided into Traditional and Open categories. The Traditional category includes Hard Style, Korean Style, Chinese Soft Style and Traditional Weapons. The Open category includes Extreme Style, Free Style, Musical Weapons and Creative Weapons. The winner of the Mens’ Traditional, Women’s Traditional, Men’s Open and Women’s Open all receive 500 euros each.

Night Show:

All athletes, judges and officials are invited to the Night of Champions Show on Thursday, October 9 at 19:00. The show consists of the All Weights Championship for Men and Women, the Kata and Weapons Showdown and the Team Point Fighting Gold medal matches. The Victory Party will immediately follow the Night Show.

Special events:

To help make the Championships more “family friendly” we have organized several events during the evening for competitors. These events include; movie night for kids, magician show and traditional Irish music in the bar.

Hotel:

The venue is the City West Hotel and Conference & Event Centre. The hotel is offering rooms at the following prices:
Single occupancy – 80 euros/night
Double occupancy – 90 euros/night
Triple occupancy- 130 euros/night
Quad Occupancy – 150 euros/night
All rates include full Irish breakfast and the 9% VAT. This is subject to change if Vat rates increase. You need to mention WKC Worlds 2014 when booking rooms.
